
VICTORIA ARMS James Street
George Bayley took over the tenancy of the Victoria from
his brother Edward on the 9th May 1945, the annual rent was £40, George also paid
£140 for fixtures and fittings, and £9.10.0. owed to the brewery by his brother for
dilapidations. Based on improvements carried out, the rent was increased to £55 per
annum in September 1953. The landlords were The Bristol United Breweries Limited.
The Victoria is still trading.

items which I undertake to maintain in good conditiion. On the termination of my
tenancy I will transfer them to my successor at a fair price not exceeding the said
£140 plus any necessary additions, less shortages and depreciation. In case of disagreement
I agree to abide by the decision of a valuer acting for both parties who shall be
chosen from three reputable valuers named by The Bristol United Breweries Limited.
