Originally Avon Cottage built in 1823, one of the first buildings in the area. During
the mid-nineteeth century the fire brick & drainpipe manufactory of William Rich
stood next door and the pub’s first known landlord was Samuel Rich. This picture
was kindly sent in by Jane McCredie.
